Syed Mokhtar’s debts raising fear of future bailout worse than Halim Saad's Renong!
“In 1997, the government had to bail out companies, they had to buy out the LRT, give a loan to Tan Sri Halim Saad who had to pull of a corporate exercise and this led to RM3.2 billion not paid back,” Pua said, referring to the collapse of the Renong Group during the financial crisis in 1997. “His (Syed Mokhtar) companies owe RM34.3 billion, more than 10 per cent of the national corporate debt; Renong owed about RM20 billion, which was only 8 per cent.

"Although national security is a serious issue, Malaysians are beginning to insist that the defense ministry be transparent and accountable on procurements that run into billions of ringgit."

A FILM to portray false water shortage: Another BN drama to SABOTAGE S'GOR?
"Najib himself is already under heavy fire for several 'doctored' photos released by national news agency Bernama that tried to depict him as a 'crowd puller', able to attract a much larger number of people to his events than the actual situation."

Ah women. You have a problem. You could go with the Devil you know or the Angel you don't, as Doc M says. If you go with Pakatan, you do not know if they will let you have what you want -- no previous results to look at. If you go with BN,

you have 55 years to look at. Based on those previous 55 years, do you think you will get what you want? Ah, that is for you to think about and choose lah. It doesn't affect me. I'm a guy. Hahahaha.

What a damning testimony, and by a minister no less... I wonder if he realises what he is saying... When you say we need this and this and this in the larger context of a new approach, you are suggesting those were absent before. I am VERY proud to hear you confirm what the rest of us have believed for the past few years. Now I think you need to brush up your resume just in case you get called to your boss' office. On and by the way... why are you discussing politics at a Human Capital Development seminar, regardless of who called/organised it?

Have we become so sexist that women mean this little to us? And here I thought we were making strides forward with the age of retirement and striving to make employment policies more fair. But what good if we only pay attention to the importance of women among the private sector, when people in the public sector don't give a hoot, especially our boys in blue. This sucks. When the Government doesn't care, why expect the police to, right?

Malaysian regulator defends decision to grant Lynas operating licence - Channel NewsAsia
ROTFLMAO! Raja Abdul Aziz said: "It is like cigarettes -- you know cigarettes kill, yet you allow the importation and selling of cigarettes because the law does not allow you to ban them. Therefore, we should base our decisions on the laws." The number of people one cigarette kills versus the number of people who are going to suffer when radioactive wastes get into our water system... what do you think? Same ar? But here's the clincher when I had my "AHA" moment... "According to Raja Abdul Aziz, Lynas can now apply for the permit to import lanthanide concentrate, a raw material, after it deposits the first installment of US$10 million as a financial guarantee." I wonder if LYNAS will end up being a corruption case too, like Securency!

Why is it we always make World News over stuff like this and not good stuff? I am so ashamed. I just want everyone to know I do not know Anifah Aman and am not related to him in any way. His thoughts and comments are all his own and do not reflect any of mine.... Doh!

A very interesting article on how we use religious excuses to censor and stifle free thinking, or anything that challenges our idea of what is right. Malaysia has internalized Highlander. As Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod would say... There can be only one. Reminds me of the Queen of Diamonds or The Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland... Say something she doesn't like to hear and it's off with your head. Isn't that right, Malaysia? Of course I'm talking to you Malaysia. Better than Eastwood talking to an empty chair. After all, it's you Malaysia who put the people in place who are doing this today. So if you think this is a mess, it is your mess Malaysia. You clean it up if you don't like it.

Tan Bun Teet, speaking on behalf of SMSL and angry local residents in Kuantan, said: “We are appalled by the government’s action. The government has lost the very last little bit of credibility left and may have acted in contempt of court as a result.” http://aliran.com/10120.html
